Help installing SSL on Debian Server

I have a dedicated Server with ***********
It uses the Open Source control Panel WebCP

To enable SSL i will have to do it all using the command line as the WebCP control panel doesn't give you the facility.

The web server is running Debian

Can somebody please give me the commands to check that the required software is installed
ie modssl and Openssl ???

Do i need to run a configure script?

I am fairly new to linux and have mainly used it in Desktop mode like i used to use Windows.

Libranet, Debian, Xandros, Lindows /Linspire, Mandrake etc

I would like to get more aquainted with the shell.

Can somebody give me the commands needed to:

A. Check that i have all the packages installed.
B. Do i need to reinstall and configure Apache, PHP and MySQL?
C. Step by step instructions.
D. What steps i need to take to ensure that the Server is as secure as possible.
Firewall /IPTables, Intrusion Detection etc.

Thank You for your help.

I know i could ask somebody to do this for me, but the next time i needed to do it i would still be just as clueless.
