Linux or FreeBSD for Apache/PHP/MySQL?

I have heard conflicting reports, some of my friends say FreeBSD will be a lot faster and more stable, and some say that FreeBSD has too much overhead compared to Linux.

I'm currently on Redhat Enterprise Linux 3.

What's the scoop? Is there enough of a difference between the two to warrant considering FreeBSD?

I have a relatively moderate sized load placed on a Dual Xeon setup as it is now, and was considering moving to a set of 2 servers. I would like some recommendations as to which of the two OS's is the best. Thanks in advance Linux or FreeBSD for Apache/PHP/MySQL?
