Httpd running but not serving pages at all

I have a dedicated server running Centos 3 with DirectAdmin and Apache 1, 1GB ram and as processor a sempron 3000. The load is currently around zero and 500-800MB of ram is free. So I don't think those are the problem.

All services are running fine. There are httpd processes running and httpd restarts normally without any errors. The server was also restarted a few times without problems.

However, httpd isn't serving any pages at all, not from domain requests and not from the ip-address. The requests just seem to time out.

It happened during the night, so it's not directly after I changed some settings. Of course it might be something from a few days ago. The server is already down for like 12 hours now.

The server is managed, but it's already been a while and they still didn't find a solution. They told me that the httpd daemon is working, but somehow times out for outgoing requests. I thought it might be a good idea to get some advice from wht-members in order to find a quick solution to this problem and get the server working again as fast as possible.
