Stunnel for Mysql Recipe?

Nobody responded to my mysql with openssl builtin thread, so I assume that everyone uses stunnel (or transmits insecurely) when sending mysql data across servers.

Does anyone have a reliable method to keep stunnel up an running indefinately on a server? I have had some problems with ssh tunnels breaking after long use. Maybe stunnel is different?
