installing "http-analyze" on GNU/Linux VPS

This may be a really stupid question, but...

I like the detailed feedback provided by the "http-analyze" logfile processing script. We've got it installed on my home computer, but the logfiles are becoming unwieldy. We download (and delete) the daily gzip file, but it can easily run to five megs before unzipping locally.

So we were thinking, now that I've got a "managed" VPS account, of installing the script on "my" server. My stupid question is: Do I need to "turn off" daily compression in WebHost Manager? It seems reasonable that I would need to, since http-analyze does its own compression thing, and I wouldn't want to create a conflict....

Anybody have experience installing this script? Or should I just ask my VPS host what they'd charge to handle the installation?

Thank you.

Eliz.
