Help! I need to encrypt data locally
i need to encrpt data on a local machine and i tried http://www.truecrypt.org/ but it doesn't do what i need.
so here's the scenario:
i have a client with a program running on his windows XP machine and it accesses a database on the hard disc or a partition. i need the database data encrypted so it can't be copied but it still needs to be accessible and useable by the program. the machine is pyhsically located in my clients office and he doesn't want anyone with physical access to it to be able to copy the database.
ideally, he would enter a long password at the beginning and subsequent re-boots etc wouldn't affect anything (that was the problem with truecrypt- everytime you boot the machine or there is a power failure you would have to 'mount' the partition and eneter a huge password.
anyone have any ideas? he doesn't mind paying for a program but i can't seem to find anything.
