WHM and open ssl / curl

I'm using WHM/CPANEL ... i've tried to recompile apache a jillion times with opensssl checked and with curl checked and curl with ssl support checked.. but they dont show up in the summary section of my shopping cart application ( x-cart )
i'm HOPING thats the problem with my paypal pro woes (it least its something identifiable right ? )

Any help / suggestions ?
