process owner nobody causes high cpu

Hey,

I hope someone knows the fix to this as it is relatively scary and it is causing server instability because it raises the CPU to uncommon levels.

Whenever I check the service status in WHM for cPanel it shows the CPU is at 38.96 and sometimes 43. Whenever I check out what is using the most CPU it shows the Owner as nobody and it is showing things like /usr/sbin/proftpd as using ridiculous amounts of CPU and memory. That file doesn't even exist, I am using pure-ftpd.

I have to kill the processes for that user in order to regain some stability, but that is not an effective solution and I feel there is a security issue involved.

I also see wget to some site pulling lol.txt

Does anyone have any idea what to do?

I am using Fedora Core 4 running WHM 10.8.0 cPanel 10.8.1-R113 Fedora i686 - WHM X v3.1.0

Thank you veryy much for any help.

Dan
