VMWare Host Operating System
I am attempting to decide which operating system would be a better host for a VMWare server. The machine will be an Opteron 165 1.8 GHz, with 2 GB of RAM. I can either run Windows 2003 x64 or RHEL x64 as the base OS, and then install my two virtual operating systems ontop of it.
I will admit, I am more used to utilizing VMWare with a Windows based operating system as the host. However, if Red Hat Enterprise Edition Linux will use less of the host's system resources (Windows seems to gobble up 200 megs of RAM, while doing zero...), I will go with Linux
Many of you most likely have never used VMWare GSX Server, but instead have utilized Virtuozzo. However, this question is directed at the usage of VMWare products, so if you reply, please make sure you understand the differences.
