Multiple internet feeds
Our hosting services has moved past the 100Mbps mark on our gig-e fiber connection from HE.net.The connection has been extremely reliable, but the bigger we get, the more I'm concerned about running all that traffic through a single provider. One router failure on their end and we're totally dead in the water.
I'm considering going with a deal offered by Cogent at extremely low prices (I can't say, but I've never seen it this cheap anywhere else), mostly as a backup connection. We're in a carrier nuetral facility so can pick pretty much anyone we choose for connectivity.
Anyone have experience with using multiple direct internet connection providers and load balancing them? I know it can be complex, our previous colo used a "pool" system for bandwidth, with 4 providers load balanced, and every time they added a new provider they went through a week or two of connection issues. We just fed off that pool of bandwidth.
I just want to get a feel for what's involved with something like this.
