Kernel downgrade on CentOS 4.2?

One of my new servers was just setup using the CentOS 4.2 ISOs. I'm having the problems with high iowait times that I've read about in a couple of different places. The fix appears to be a reversion back to the 2.6.9-11 kernel from the current 2.6.9-22. Since this was a fresh install with CentOS 4.2 there's no "reversion" to make that I know of. I guess the question is: What is the best way for me to switch to the 2.6.9-11 kernel on a fresh CentOS 4.2 without borking the server and having to pay the DC a trillion dollars to fix it?

P.S. I'm also running DirectAdmin on it as well if that matters.
