3ware 8006-2LP - Continuous "Rebuild Error" using 3DM2
Have been trying to get 3ware's 3DM2 utility to work on my 8006-2LP sata controller. Can't get 3DM2 to work on Centos 4.2 or RH-9. 3dm works on both just fine and after numerous rebuilds.Everytime I pull one of the Raptor HD's and add back to array and do a rebuild using 3DM2 I get a "rebuild failure" in the alarm section of 3DM2. All other sections of 3DM2 show that everything is ok. Data does not seem to be corrupted and when I do a verify it passes everytime after a failed rebuild.
All firmware, bios and drivers up to date as is os. e2fsck shows no bad blocks on the two Raptors and the logs show nothing unusal either. Both drives pass smartd also.
Have been in touch with 3ware but not getting a lot back so far.
This is a dual pentium III 1.26 Ghz server - Tyan S2518 MB 300W PFC sparkle power supply in a Chenbro RM116 Sata Backplane case.
Already tried swaping sata cables, taking out sata backplane, swaping out memory. Systems has plenty of power and same problem persists so think it has to do with 3DM2 in someway as 3dm works on Centos 4.2 and RH-9.
3ware's site says 3DM2 should work on the 8006. I'm using the 3ware bios from the kernel which is the most current for the controller.
Any ideas on why I keep getting the "failed rebuild" error using 3DM2?
Thanks...
