weird users in forums
first of all - notice to administration. I don't know where exactly to post it...so sorry if I put it in a wrong place. I did not want to...
I have a standard php forum. Some time ago weird users began to register. They usually use Western names (my forum is in Lithuania) with numbers. For example:
Rachael8405
Deann0132
and so on. They register and they show no activity. The bad thing is that the come in relatively large numbers and all of them show their websites. Typical examples:
cigar.quality-only.info
bulldog.buy-discount-cigaretes.info
furniture.detailed.info.com
also coolguality.info is popular.
and so on. All of these websites does not exist. The users take no action- just increase the number of dead users and eating my bandwith.
I tried to delete them one by one, but they registered again and again.
Have no possibility to ban as I cannot know their IPs. I consider them to be reclamers at best and spamers at worst.I think it should be something automated (because the same user was in forum and in my friend's forum with the same bogus website). I do not know why is it done. Maybe someone want to rise the popularity of his/her site? However, myu forum is not for ads.
has any of you met with such visitors? How do you defend against them? Do you have any ideas where they come from and why they are doing this?
