forcing EXIM to lookup rDNS
Any way to make exim check the sender's identity via rDNS/PTR records? I'm laughing my @$$ off looking at /var/log/maillog at how bad these spammers are. No BS, this one guy tried about 350 different combinations of <name> before his script gave up. so <name>@myserver.com, basicly, 350 different attempts to get into a non-existant mailbox.I know about doing a catchall although this was rather amusing. But anyways, I'd love to have exim do a reverse lookup if at all possible. I know, it's so AOL of me but let's be honest, we're all tired of spam and anything to cut down on it is good. And yes, I am running SpamAssassin but even that's not fool-proof. Security in layers, that's what I say.
My other alternative, although I'm not sure it will work (because I'm not entirely versed in IPTables/APF) is to just 100% ban all of asia in IPTables. But not sure if that will work since I have a permit smtp statement in there. I'd have to put a deny asia_ip any any in IPTables first if that would work. Bleah, networking is so much easier.
