Microsoft Patch Disabling Ssl?
Dear fríends,I am going nuts about a glitch in my new website: opalesque.com, hit "subscribe" - maybe someone knows this issue:
About 20% of my users are telling me that they "fall out" from step one of my registration process (you can just enter any data when trying out...) They hit "continue" but the server does not get any data and leads them to "page not found" page or the same page shows up empty again. My programmer thinks it is this Microsoft problem - the browser does not send data to the server: I think he is using "post ", because "get"would send the data through the URL...This is the Microsoft description my programmer found:
support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=831167
SYMPTOMS
You may not be able to log on to a Web site or complete an Internet transaction after you install the 832894 (MS04-004) security update. For example, when you submit your user name and password to an SSL-secured Web site by using a form on a HTTPS Web page, you may receive an HTTP 500 (Internal Server Error) Web page.
CAUSE
This problem may occur after you apply the 832894 security update (MS04-004) or the 821814 hotfix on a computer that runs Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0, Windows
Millennium Edition, or Windows 98.
Microsoft recommends to "install critical update 831167". We have put this on the site but I feel there must be another way, otherwise all internet shop owners must force users to download
Your input is greatly appreciated!
Matthias
