How many mails per seconde

Hi,

I would like to know how many (legal, 100% optin How many mails per seconde) emails a server can send. Does it depend on the processor, or on the memory, or maybe on the disk?
I heard that a normal server (1 CPU, about 1.5 Ghz, 512 MB memory, 40 GB IDE disk) can send 2 emails per sec. Is this true, and would that mean that if I put 2 processors in, it can send 4 emails per seconde? Or are there than other things to look after?
